Anoushka Shankar Anoushka Shankar, a British American singer and musician, is well known for her songs. She won the British House of Commons' Shield in the year of her youngest and also the first female recipient. Alongside nine Grammy nominations She was also the very first Indian-origin musician to perform during the ceremony live. Anoushka Shankar is among India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is a student as well as child of Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was London in 1982. During her first years she split in London New Delhi. When she was only 13, her first show in New Delhi took place. She then moved in Encinitas CA, where she obtained the High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha was only an teen, has enjoyed a successful performing and recording career. She regularly accompanies her father during performances, something she's been doing for a number of years. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. Two years later she released the Grammy nominated album Live in Carnegie Hall. The stage work she has done is broad as she's performed in most of the major stages in the world. Anoushka Shakar's work is not only limited to music. In 2002, she released an autobiography titled Bapi The love of My Live this is a picture-based biography, which gives a special tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. She's also acted. In the 2003 film Dance Like a Man, where she played the role of a Bharat natyam dancing young girl. Anoushka Shankar's career continues to unfold and we're likely to see many things from her in years to follow. Anoushka Shankar was born in England and spent a lot of her early years in London and Delhi later relocating to California in the state where she attended high school. When she was nine years old, she began her studies in music under her father making her performing debut with the sitar four years later during the celebration of his 75th birthday in Delhi. Anoushka was able to gain a great deal of experience by touring around the globe together with her dad. She performed in Carnegie Hall in her teenage time, and also recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the youngest and sole female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by the British Parliament in recognition of her artistry and musicianship as an outstanding musician from music in Asian Arts.
