Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny quiet town. People unfamiliar with the term frequently think that it's a separate island somewhere to the west of Montreal However, in reality this part of West Island is home to all things from Lachine west to the City of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often mentioned, but her brief stay was not. Brugel grew to be a young woman living in Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. She wanted to become professional, however because of a huge increase in her height, she outgrew the dance partners she had. The Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. After I surpassed my male counterparts and gave up, I decided to give up. Some former dancers switch to acting, and in Brugel's situation, it was the nudge of a high school drama teacher who led her in the right direction. The teacher recommended that she try out for a school production. After trying out the role, she was chosen as the main character of Anne of Green Gables. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. The career of Brugel spans more than 20 years and she's performed in more than 60 shows including big screen productions and on smaller ones. Her most recognizable role was the one of Rita (pictured in the below photo) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel made an appearance on only a handful of occasions in the first season of the show The Handmaid's Tale. She was the sole Canadian participant.
